Amazon Reportedly Developing Smartphone with AI Interface to Replace App Stores

Amazon is reportedly developing a smartphone, codenamed Transformer, that may include an AI interface. The interface would potentially eliminate the need for traditional app stores.

Amazon is rumoured to be developing a new smartphone, though details, including cost, remain unclear. An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment on "rumours and speculation" when contacted. The release date is unknown, and the project may be scrapped altogether. This follows the 2014 launch of the Fire Phone, which was discontinued due to poor sales and a limited app ecosystem. The Fire Phone featured a 3D display and an app called Firefly that allowed users to purchase items from Amazon by scanning them with the camera.
