Gonzaga Women's Basketball Falls to Ole Miss in NCAA Tournament

Ole Miss defeated Gonzaga 81-66 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, ending the Zags' tournament run. The Rebels' strong performance in the paint and capitalizing on turnovers proved too much for Gonzaga to overcome at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs, a 12-seed, were defeated by the fifth-seeded Ole Miss Rebels in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss's defence limited West Coast Conference Player of the Year Lauren Whittaker to eight points, far below her season average. Despite a strong fourth quarter push where they outscored Ole Miss 29-13, Gonzaga could not overcome the deficit. Ole Miss had balanced scoring, with four players reaching double figures. The Rebels capitalized on 21 Gonzaga turnovers, while only giving up 13. The Zags outscored Ole Miss 29-13 in the fourth quarter, including a 20-2 run.
