Sikh Group Seeks Hate Crime Probe in Brampton Man's Alberta Death

The World Sikh Organization is requesting a hate crime investigation into the highway shooting death of Birinder Singh. Singh, a 22-year-old former Brampton resident and recent Conestoga College graduate, was killed on Highway 2 near Leduc, Alberta, on March 14.

The World Sikh Organization (WSO) is urging authorities to investigate the fatal shooting of Birinder Singh as a potential hate crime. Singh, who had recently moved to Alberta from Brampton, was shot while driving on Highway 2 near Leduc. Jaskaran Sandhu, the WSO's Alberta regional president, told The Star that the incident appeared unprovoked. Singh was a recent graduate of Conestoga College in Kitchener. The shooting occurred around 2:50 p.m. on March 14. Police have recovered the suspect vehicle, a grey 2022 Ford F-150.
