South Fayette and Archbishop Wood to Face Off in Championship

South Fayette and Archbishop Wood will compete in the PIAA Class 5A girls basketball championship. South Fayette, led by Division I-bound players, seeks to defend its title against Archbishop Wood, who they beat last year.

South Fayette and Archbishop Wood will face off in the PIAA Class 5A girls basketball championship. South Fayette, the defending PIAA Class 5A champion, defeated Archbishop Wood 45-37 in last season's title game. In 2023, Archbishop Wood defeated the Lions 61-54 in the state championship game. South Fayette is led by senior guards Ryan Oldaker (Marist), Juliette "Juju" Leroux (Florida Atlantic), and Haylie Lamonde (South Carolina Upstate). Oldaker and Leroux were all-state selections last season. Bryan Bennett has a 164-48 record in eight seasons as coach at South Fayette.
