Altrincham Named Northwest England's Best Place to Live by The Times

Altrincham, a market town in Trafford, has been named the best place to live in Northwest England by The Sunday Times. The town was assessed on factors ranging from schools and transport to the health of the high street and access to green spaces.

The Sunday Times' expert panel selected Altrincham as the most desirable place to live in the northwest following a comprehensive annual evaluation. The panel assesses various locations throughout the country, considering factors such as schools, transport links, amenities, access to green spaces, and the condition of the high street. Altrincham, established in 1290, maintains its historic market alongside a growing number of independent businesses, restaurants, bars, and cafés. Commuters benefit from the town's proximity to the M56 and M6 motorways, providing easy access to Manchester and other destinations. Piccadilly is accessible in approximately 25 to 30 minutes by train, while trams to Manchester city centre take just over half an hour. Manchester Airport is less than 15 minutes away by car, and cyclists can use the Bridgewater Way canal towpath to reach MediaCity and the city centre.
