Bonner-Prendie Captures First PIAA Boys' Basketball Title in School History
Bonner-Prendie defeated West York 62-35 for the PIAA Class 5A title at Hershey's Giant Center on Friday. This is the first state basketball championship for Bonner in 38 years.
Korey Francis, a junior guard for Bonner-Prendie, was inspired by the school's memorabilia. Francis aspired to be on the memorabilia wall that displays Monsignor Bonner lore. The wall contains items such as Al Atkinson's Super Bowl III Jersey and John Cappelletti's Friars No. 11 jersey. Francis and his teammates secured their place on that wall Friday night. Bonner-Prendie's victory concluded a perfect 5-0 record for the Philadelphia area in the PIAA state basketball championships.
