Iranians Mark Eid al-Fitr Amidst Middle East Conflict

Eid al-Fitr prayers took place across Iran on March 21, marking the end of Ramadan. The religious observances occurred against the backdrop of ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Thousands of Muslims in Iran gathered for Eid al-Fitr prayers on March 21, as broadcast by state television. The prayers marked the conclusion of Ramadan. Iran, a majority Shi'ite country, observed the end of Ramadan one day later than most Sunni-majority Muslim countries. Worshippers congregated at Tehran's Imam Khomeini grand mosque at dawn. Due to limited space inside the mosque, many participants prayed in the surrounding areas. According to the Fars news agency, overnight strikes targeted districts of Tehran, its outskirts, and the central city of Isfahan.
