A lower-body injury in mid-January sidelined the 30-year-old, causing him to miss 28 games. In nine NHL seasons split between the New York Rangers and Winnipeg, Pionk has recorded 264 points. Before the injury, Pionk had two goals and eight assists in 40 games this season. His average playing time has been 72 games per season.
