Smith, an All-American, recorded his 1,077th career assist with 12:11 remaining in the first half. The record-breaking assist was delivered to teammate Trey Kaufman-Renn. Smith stands alone as the only player in NCAA history to accumulate at least 1,500 points, 1,000 assists, and 500 rebounds. He is also one of two players, along with Avery Johnson of Southern, to record at least 300 assists in two seasons. Smith was recognised as a second-team AP All-American this season.
