The team overcame technical issues during free practice that forced a brief chassis switch. The original #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 returned for qualifying, where Verstappen secured pole position. His pole position margin was 1.9 seconds ahead of Christopher Haase in the #16 Audi. Verstappen noted the importance of both car performance and track conditions while navigating a 129-car field. After starting from pole, Verstappen lost the lead to Haase on lap two, but reclaimed P1 before the first pit stop.
