Assam: Police Commandos Injured Following Grenade and Gunfire Attack
Early Sunday morning, an extremist attack in Assam's Tinsukia district left four police commandos injured. The attack, involving grenades and gunfire, occurred at a commando camp near the Arunachal Pradesh border.
The incident occurred at the Jagun commando camp, close to the Arunachal Pradesh border. According to district officials, the attackers are suspected to be members of a banned organization. The assailants fired indiscriminately and threw grenades at the camp. The commandos returned fire, and the gunfight lasted approximately 30 minutes before the attackers retreated. Three of the injured commandos sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital. Authorities have initiated a joint operation with other forces to locate the attackers, police said. No group has claimed responsibility, but the United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) has been known to operate in the area.
