BJP Announces Candidate for Karaikal (South) in Puducherry Elections
The BJP announced M Arulmurugan as its candidate for Karaikal (South) in Puducherry for the upcoming elections. The announcement was made in a press release by the BJP's central office in New Delhi.
The BJP will contest 10 seats in the AINRC-led alliance in the 30-seat territorial Assembly. The agreement between the BJP and the AINRC was reached when the regional party's leaders met with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The AINRC has been allotted 16 seats, while the AIADMK and Lakshia Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) have each been allotted two seats. The first list of BJP candidates, released Saturday, named candidates for nine of the ten seats allotted to the party. Territorial Home Minister A Namassivayam is seeking re-election from Mannadipet as a BJP candidate, and Speaker of the outgoing Assembly Embalam R Selvam is seeking re-election from Manavely.
