Chaitra Navratri Draws Devotees to 300-Year-Old Temple in Chhatarpur, India

The ancient temple of Maa Khairi Ki Devi in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, is a centre of faith that attracts devotees during Chaitra Navratri. According to local belief, Maharaja Chhatrasal, the founder of Chhatarpur, consecrated the idol approximately 300 years ago, inspired by his spiritual Guru. A continuously burning sacred lamp symbolizes eternal faith during the nine days of Navratri. Temple priest Munna Maharaj said the tradition of lighting sacred lamps and decorating the idol dates back many years. The temple resonates with Aarti, Bhajan-Kirtan, and chants. Deities of Kal Bhairav, Batuk Bhairav, and Lord Surya are also enshrined within the temple complex.
