Davidson's 31 Points Propel USC Over Clemson in Overtime
Jazzy Davidson scored 31 points for Southern California in her NCAA Tournament debut. The ninth-seeded Trojans defeated Clemson 71-67 in overtime after officials waved off a buzzer-beater by the Tigers.
Southern California (18-13) will advance to a second-round matchup against top-seed South Carolina on Monday after defeating Clemson. Late in regulation, Mia Moore flipped in a running basket that appeared to give Clemson the win, and the Tigers began to celebrate. However, after review, officials determined the shot clock had not properly started with 4.4 seconds remaining when Clemson inbounded the ball. The basket was waved off, and the Trojans and Tigers prepared for overtime. Davidson said of Moore's apparent buzzer-beater that these are the things that happen in March. Kara Dunn, who finished with 22 points, encouraged her teammates to lock in for however long they had left to play.
