IPL and PSL Schedules Overlap in 2026, Impacting Players and Viewers

The Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) will have overlapping schedules in 2026, marking the second consecutive year of this scheduling issue. This overlap affects player availability as many international cricketers prioritize IPL contracts because of higher salaries and greater exposure.

The scheduling conflict between the IPL and PSL is creating logistical challenges. Both leagues are popular in India and Pakistan, making it hard to schedule them without overlap. The PSL will begin its 11th edition on March 26, 2026, two days before the IPL starts on March 28. The PSL schedule has shifted in recent years because of the international calendar, including ICC events, broadcast viewership considerations, and weather. The upcoming PSL season will include eight teams for the first time, reflecting expansion ambitions. Security concerns have also emerged as a factor.
