Moncton Celebrates Hometown Olympic Medallist Courtney Sarault's Return
Moncton, New Brunswick, celebrated Olympic medallist Courtney Sarault's homecoming on Saturday. Sarault was honoured by local dignitaries and fans after winning medals at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina.
Courtney Sarault, a member of the Canadian women’s speedskating team, was welcomed back to Moncton on Saturday. Sarault received a hero's welcome from hundreds of fans, New Brunswick Lt. Louise Imbeault, Depuy Mayor Paulette Theriault, and Premier Susan Holt. The 25-year-old speed skater won a bronze medal in the short track 3000-metre relay, a silver medal in the women’s 1,000 metre, a bronze in the women’s 500 metre, and a silver in the mixed team relay at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina, Italy. Sarault wore her medals and joked about their weight while hinting at winning gold next time. She performed an official puck drop at the Avenir Centre as the Moncton Wildcats played the Charlottetown Islanders.
