NeeDohs: Microwaving Squishy Fidget Toys Can Cause Injury, Company Warns

The Schylling toy company, which manufactures NeeDohs, warns against microwaving the popular fidget toy. Recent online trends of microwaving NeeDohs have led to injuries.

NeeDohs, the squishy fidget toys, have grown in popularity since 2018. Schylling says that NeeDohs are designed to be pulled, squished, stretched, and smushed, and then return to their original form, providing a sensory experience that helps with focus and stress reduction. However, a recent trend has emerged online suggesting that microwaving or freezing NeeDohs will make them stretchier. The Schylling toy company is aware of the trend of microwaving NeeDohs. There have been reports of children getting burned and even requiring hospitalization after microwaved NeeDohs exploded. The company is collaborating with TikTok to remove videos that promote microwaving the toy.
