Stolarz Hospitalized After Nylander Shot, Senators Beat Maple Leafs 5-2

Anthony Stolarz, Toronto's scheduled starting goaltender, was hospitalized after being struck in the throat by a William Nylander shot during warmups Saturday in Ottawa. Stolarz was later released and cleared to fly home, while the Senators defeated the Maple Leafs 5-2.

The Maple Leafs faced a series of unfortunate events Saturday in Ottawa, beginning before the game against the Senators even started. During warmups, William Nylander's shot struck Anthony Stolarz in the throat, resulting in Stolarz being transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary imaging. Nylander said that he felt worried and had been texting with Stolarz, who seemed to be OK. The Maple Leafs confirmed that Stolarz was released from hospital and cleared to fly home with the team. Joseph Woll, who started in place of Stolarz, made 38 saves. It remains unclear whether Stolarz will be available for the team's next game on Tuesday in Boston.
