The UConn women's basketball team, the top seed in the Fort Worth 1 region, commenced their title defence with a 90-52 victory over No. 16 UTSA on Saturday. UConn (35-0) won its NCAA opener for the 32nd consecutive tournament. Blanca Quinonez scored 10 points during an 18-1 run for the Huskies. Quinonez totalled 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Ashlynn Shade contributed 14 points in the victory. The Huskies will play Syracuse in the second round on Monday.
