Anton Frondell Set for NHL Debut with Chicago Blackhawks This Week

Anton Frondell, a highly-rated prospect, is anticipated to make his National Hockey League debut with the Chicago Blackhawks this week. The forward recently concluded his season in Sweden, where he achieved a significant scoring milestone.

Anton Frondell, the third overall selection in the 2025 draft, is expected to join the Chicago Blackhawks for his initial NHL appearance during the current week. Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill indicated prior to Sunday's 3-2 overtime defeat against Nashville that Frondell was en route to Chicago from Sweden, expressing hope for his arrival "as soon as possible." While Blashill did not confirm Frondell would play alongside Connor Bedard, the first overall pick from the 2023 draft, he stated the 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward would certainly "be with a good player." The Blackhawks secured Frondell with a three-year, entry-level contract last summer, subsequently loaning him to Djurgardens in Sweden's premier hockey league. Blashill mentioned that further details regarding Frondell's precise debut date would be available on Monday, citing ongoing logistical arrangements. The Blackhawks are commencing a four-game road trip on Tuesday, with stops against the New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, and New Jersey Devils.
