Iowa State Advances to Sweet 16, Defeating Kentucky with Strong Second Half

Iowa State secured an 82-63 victory over Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, advancing to the Sweet 16. The Cyclones achieved this despite the absence of a key player, relying on collective effort and a dominant defensive performance.

Iowa State's men's basketball team defeated Kentucky on Sunday in St. Louis, earning a spot in the Sweet 16. This marks the eighth time the Cyclones have reached this stage and the third under coach T.J. Otzelberger. The team played without Joshua Jefferson, an important forward who was sidelined with an ankle injury. Tamin Lipsey, a senior guard, delivered a career-best performance, scoring 26 points and contributing 10 assists. Milan Momcilovic added 20 points, and Nate Heise, starting in Jefferson's place, scored 12 points. The Cyclones' defence was particularly effective in the second half, limiting Kentucky's offensive production. Jefferson is scheduled for an MRI on Monday to assess his injury.
