Mponela FC, based in Dowa, clinched the National Bank of Malawi Under-23 Championship in a closely contested final against Karonga United Reserves. The match, held at Champion Stadium in Mponela on Sunday, concluded with a goalless draw in regulation time, leading to a decisive penalty shootout. Mponela FC's head coach, Pascal Chirwa, lauded his team's resolve and composure following their historic win. Conversely, Karonga United Reserves' coach, Chris Chimkwita, believed his squad had performed strongly despite the loss. Meanwhile, the FDH Premier Netball League concluded its first season at the KUHeS Sports Complex in Blantyre, where the Blue Eagles Sisters secured the championship with an unblemished record. FDH Bank Plc has commended the league for elevating the sport's standards and providing a platform for player talent.
