Parkway Drive Addresses Former Merchandise Manager's Child Sex Offence Guilty Plea

Australian band Parkway Drive has condemned the actions of a former merchandise manager who pleaded guilty to a historical child sex offence in a New South Wales court last week. The band stated they bear responsibility for employing him intermittently since 2003, despite the offence predating their formation.

Jed Daniel Gordon, 44, appeared in Byron Bay Local Court and admitted guilt to a charge involving sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl. This offence took place between November 2002 and July 2003, when Mr. Gordon was in his early twenties. According to ABC, Mr. Gordon is the brother of Parkway Drive's drummer, Ben Gordon. He was present in the courtroom alone for both mentions of his case on March 9 and March 16. Sentencing for Mr. Gordon is scheduled for May 19, at which time a victim impact statement is anticipated to be presented to the court. Parkway Drive issued a statement via social media on Sunday, March 22, addressing the situation. The band expressed their dismay, stating, "This is appalling and we condemn it." They also conveyed their support for the victim.
