Sena Leader Questions Mumbai Police Conduct in Malad Assault Investigation

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam on Monday criticized the Kurar Police's handling of an assault investigation involving Hindu girls in Mumbai's Malad area. Nirupam raised concerns about police methods and the involvement of a local MLA and a Muslim leader in the inquiry.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam publicly questioned the Kurar Police's actions regarding an assault case in Mumbai on Monday. He specifically criticized the alleged pressure on a victim's family to bring minor girls to the police station late at night for suspect identification. According to the Free Press Journal, Nirupam also expressed suspicion about the involvement of a local MLA and a Muslim leader in the investigation. The controversy began in Mumbai's Kurar area following a minor disagreement over a shared auto-rickshaw near Malad railway station. This initial dispute reportedly escalated into an altercation where a group of Muslim men allegedly attacked Hindu girls. Nirupam conveyed his concerns via X, formerly Twitter, asking about the appropriateness of police involving a local MLA when approaching victims. He further questioned the MLA's presence, asking about the purpose of the visit and whether the MLA had concealed the suspects or was aware of their whereabouts.
