However, the Patriotes mounted a comeback, with Pier-Olivier Roy and Charles Beaudoin each contributing a goal in the second period to level the score at 2-2. The game remained tied through regulation, leading to an extra period to determine the champion. William Grimard, the UQTR goaltender, was a key factor in the victory, making 45 saves during the match. In the bronze-medal game held earlier the same day, the University of New Brunswick Reds secured a 5-1 win over the Windsor Lancers, with Stuart Rolofs and Braeden MacPhee each scoring twice.
